Reports To: The Finance and Accounting Officer will report to the Managing Director.
Job Overview: Under the supervision of the Managing Director of the Institute the successful candidate monitors the financial operations, including the payroll, payments, cash flows, donations, and funding.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Bookkeeping – Keeps accurate records for all daily transactions.
- Prepares and submits VAT / VIES, IR7, IR4, HE32 and any other necessary reports.
- Prepares accurate statements (balance sheets, income statements, etc), forecasts costs and revenues and monitors and reports on accounting discrepancies. Performs month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepares monthly Bank Reconciliations and bank deposits.
- Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the annual Budget.
- Reviews Teams’ Budgets and takes actions accordingly.
- Prepares monthly – quarterly – bi-annual and annual financial reports.
- Manages taxes and other payments and processes invoices.
- Organizes and implements internal and financial audits.
- Assisting the Organization’s external auditors with the annual audit procedures of accounts and acting as a key point of contact for technical accounting matters.
- Ensures compliance with accounting provisions, rules and regulations and supports the company’s financial decisions.
- Monitoring of Fixed Assets and Depreciation.
- Monitoring of donations and funding.
- Conducts detailed risk analyses and analyses financial trends.
- Reviews and implements financial policies.
- Performs any other related duties assigned to him/her.
Qualifications:
Education level:
- BSc degree in accounting and/or Finance or relevant field
AND - Master’s degree in accounting and finance or economics or MBA or a Professional Certification from the Association of Chartered Accountants or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
OR - any other BSc/ BA degree in addition to a Professional Certification from the Association of Chartered Accountants or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
Experience:
- At least five years of proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position and job description
Excellent written and verbal communication in English and in Greek
Competencies:
- Excellent Microsoft Office 365 Platform knowledge., especially MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Good knowledge of accounting software systems
- Solid knowledge of accounting legislation and regulations
- Knowledge of MS Business Central 365 will be considered as an advantage.
- Knowledge of iNpayroll solution will be considered as an advantage.

Remuneration: The approved salary scale for the position is A8 – A10 – A11.
The placement of the successful candidate will be on the first step of A8 scale (the basic annual gross salary of the position (including 13th salary) amounts to € 23.885 (A8/1st – 10%)) Any general increases and indexation allowance of the same amount and under the same conditions, as in the case of employees in the Public Sector are added to the basic salary of the position.
